Israel Police to Question Officials Over Aviation Security Lapses
Israel Police are questioning senior Transportation Ministry officials and security personnel over severe aviation security failures and potential conflicts of interest.

Israel Police are scheduled to summon senior Transportation Ministry officials and security personnel for questioning this week as part of an ongoing investigation into aviation security failures linked to the recent Flydubai flight incident.
Investigators are probing severe security lapses on foreign airline flights operating to Israel over recent years. Among those summoned is Avri Cohen, who allegedly served as a security officer at the Israel Airports Authority without the required permits. Additionally, Dvir Rubinstein, head of the aviation security operations center, faces questioning over suspected private consulting provided to foreign carriers while simultaneously overseeing them.
Conflict of Interest and Regulatory Oversights
At the core of the police inquiry is a suspected severe conflict of interest among security professionals. Detectives are examining whether the consulting services offered to foreign airlines compromised regulatory oversight and undermined flight security standards.
According to findings, these accumulated oversights could have potentially led to a major aviation disaster. Police intend to take further testimonies from officials across the Israel Airports Authority and the Transportation Ministry to determine accountability and thoroughly review the systems overseeing foreign flight security.
