Indictment Filed Against Minor for Violence and Vehicle Theft in Mount Hebron
Following the completion of an investigation by the Judea and Samaria Police District, an indictment was filed this morning (Thursday) against a 16-year-old minor, a resident of Avigail in the southern Mount Hebron region. He is charged with involvement in several incidents involving violent offenses, property damage, and driving without a license. Notably, the charges include the assault of an amputee who uses crutches.
On August 22, police officers from the Hebron station in the Judea sub-district arrested the minor after he appeared in a widely circulated online video striking an amputee using crutches during a friction between the parties. His detention was extended periodically. When the prosecution filed a statement of intent to indict, an agreement was reached to release him to house arrest.
Multiple Criminal Cases and Farm Tractor Incident
According to the investigation findings and the details of the indictment, the minor was the subject of two additional criminal files earlier this year concerning incidents of violence and property damage.
The indictment states that on the afternoon of August 22, the minor took advantage of the absence of the owner of a farm where he volunteered. Alongside another young man, he took the farm’s utility vehicle (Ranger) and drove it along the paths surrounding the farm, despite never having obtained a driver's license.
Confrontation with a Palestinian Resident
Subsequently, the two arrived at a path near the home of the Palestinian complainant, who is an amputee. A confrontation ensued between the parties, during which, according to the charges, the two threatened the complainant and his family members and used violence against them.
At a certain point, the minor approached the complainant, stood before him in a threatening manner while holding an iron crowbar, and ordered him to move out of his way. He also pushed the crutch with his left foot and physically assaulted the complainant.
The minor has been formally charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, driving without a license or insurance, making threats, multiple counts of assault, and malicious property damage. Concurrently with the filing of the indictment, police prosecutors requested that the court order his release under restrictive conditions, including the continuation of his house arrest.
