Miley Cyrus changes to "Miley", her father reacts
Ahead of her tenth album, the singer is changing her branding on social media and promotional materials. Father Billy Ray has already given his blessing and shared a similar story from the beginning of his career.
Miley Cyrus is shifting to professional branding under the name "Miley" ahead of the release of her tenth album, "Bass Persuades". This new branding is already visible across her social media and promotional materials, and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, has expressed his support in a post on Instagram.
According to him, he "felt good about her going with her first name" and described the move as "a natural evolution for an iconic and legendary superstar". In the post, he also referenced Dolly Parton, Cher, Elvis Presley, and Prince.
Billy Ray returns to 1992
Cyrus did not stop at a proud father's blessing. He reflected on the beginning of his own career, sharing that before his 1992 hit "Achy Breaky Heart" was released, he had wanted to work under the name "Cyrus" only.
He noted that his merchandise at the time bore the inscription "CYRUS SOME GAVE ALL," alongside a POW/MIA flag, but the record label insisted on the name "Billy Ray Cyrus."
"Family is more important than ever"
Alongside the professional reflection, Billy Ray shared a vintage photo with Miley and her brother Braison, writing: "Family is more important than ever now."
He added that he has always called his daughter simply "Miley," just as he has always called his son "Braison."
Tenth album coming in September
"Bass Persuades," Miley's tenth studio album, is expected to be released on September 18, 2026. In the album announcement, she described the music as "powerful, vulnerable, sweet, and strong," speaking about a full heart, heartbreak, and everything in between.
Miley is also scheduled to perform twice at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 16 and 18, 2026.
