Murder in Jaffa: Suspects arrested after police pursuit
Ahmad Shakara was shot to death while riding an electric bicycle on Jerusalem Boulevard. Two suspects were arrested in a Holon apartment after attempting to dispose of a weapon. Police also seized the vehicle allegedly used in the crime.
Three men in their 20s were arrested on Friday on suspicion of involvement in a murder that took place last night on Jerusalem Boulevard in Jaffa. During the operation, officers from the Tel Aviv District Central Unit seized a loaded Glock pistol and a jeep suspected of being used to commit the murder and flee the scene.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim, Ahmad Shakara, a resident of Jaffa, was riding an electric bicycle on Jerusalem Boulevard. At one point, a jeep stopped next to him, and a suspect exited the vehicle and fired several shots. The shooter fled, while Shakara was evacuated in critical condition to Wolfson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Large police forces were dispatched to the scene to conduct searches, while forensic teams collected evidence and gathered witness testimonies. Tel Aviv District Commander, Nitzav Haim Sargof, held a situation assessment and assigned the investigation to the Tel Aviv Central Unit.
Police stated that rapid investigative actions and the use of technological means led to the identification and location of the suspects. Two of them were arrested in an apartment in Holon, where they were seen throwing a Glock pistol out of the window. In addition, the jeep suspected of involvement in the murder was seized.
The three suspects, all residents of Jaffa, have been transferred for questioning. Police are expected to bring them before the Magistrate's Court on Saturday evening to request an extension of their detention.
