Children's star Maiki has sent a legal warning letter to the "Likud" party through her attorneys, Amit Karmon, demanding 300,000 shekels in compensation and a public apology for the unauthorized use of her viral hit song "Squishy Party" in a political video.
According to the legal notice, utilizing the track risks involuntarily associating the young performer with a specific political agenda and messages. The singer's representatives demanded an immediate halt to the usage, compensation for settlement purposes, coverage of legal expenses, and an official retraction.
In an interview with mako, Maiki explained her position: "I cannot be political because I am a children's star. I cannot take a side... I am here to make children and people happy, that is my party, that is what I choose." She added that while she initially smiled upon hearing her music, realizing it was tied to an election campaign made her uncomfortable.
