Rock star Lenny Kravitz fell victim to a severe online hoax claiming he died in a tragic private jet crash in Palm Beach County, Florida, which claimed nine lives. The 62-year-old musician was falsely linked to the disaster simply because he maintains a home in the Bahamas.

The private aircraft took off from Austin, Texas, bound for North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas before plunging from 35,250 feet to 8,750 feet in just over a minute. The crew reported severe icing and turbulence, issuing a distress call shortly before the fatal impact that left a massive crater near a mobile home park.

The false rumor originated from a since-deleted Facebook post by 21-year-old pilot Emily Shelton, who had previously mentioned flying the star. Although social media users quickly connected the dots, her post was entirely unrelated to the actual flight, and the co-pilot was later identified as 20-year-old Natalia Gadala.

Kravitz's representative, Carleen Donovan, swiftly debunked the death hoax, confirming that the musician is alive and well. She noted that the rock icon is currently busy preparing for an upcoming wedding.
