18-year-old barber's dream ruined by break-in: 70,000 shekels worth of equipment stolen
An unidentified burglar broke into 18-year-old Toar Shabu's barbershop in Rehovot, stealing 70,000 shekels worth of equipment. Despite the heavy financial blow, the young entrepreneur is determined to keep his business running.
Security camera footage from the 'Shabus' barbershop in Rehovot revealed a break-in during which equipment worth approximately 70,000 shekels was stolen from the business of 18-year-old Toar Shabu. In the video, the masked burglar is seen smashing the storefront window and walking coolly inside the premises while the alarm is sounding. He leisurely collects professional scissors, computers, phones, and grooming products, causing significant financial damage.
In an interview with the program 'HaOlam HaBoker' ('The World This Morning'), Toar Shabu described the deep emotional connection to the business he built with his own hands: "You feel as if they are desecrating your temple, the thing that is most important to you, which you worked on for so many years." Shabu recounted the long and demanding path he took from childhood to fulfill his dream. "I am a child of a single mother, I have been working in the profession since age 13," he said. Despite the heavy blow he suffered, the 18-year-old is determined to continue operating the place, while also preparing for his enlistment in the IDF.
Israel Police response: "Upon receiving the report about the incident, police officers arrived at the scene, collected evidence, and opened an investigation. All necessary actions are being carried out, including scanning the area and locating those involved in the incident with the goal of establishing the truth."
