The son of Ishay Levi reveals with pain: the farewell at the hospital after a 6-year estrangement
Following the death of singer Ishay Levi at the age of 63, his son Shir opens his heart in a painful interview and tells about the years they did not speak, the frightening moment at the hospital, and the great regret that remains with him.

Singer Ishay Levi was one of the most prominent and beloved singers in Mediterranean music in Israel. The Israeli star broke into the public consciousness in the 80s with major hits. Levi went through a complex path in his life of dealing with personal difficulties and then returning to the stage and achieving great success.
After a deterioration in his health, Levi passed away in June 2026 at the age of 63. In an interview with Ofira Assayag on Channel 12, Shir, the son of the late Ishay Levi, spoke about the difficult farewell to his father and the estrangement that existed between them in his final years.
"We were estranged for 6 years. My brother called me and told me that my father was hospitalized in bad condition and that there was a chance I needed to come and say goodbye. I arrived there and saw him in a very difficult state. He was not really conscious. As much as my brother prepared me for it, I was still in shock. It hurt me so much to see him in that state. He didn't speak, but I sat with him and held his hand and kissed his head, we had a kind of farewell like that," said Shir Levi.
Later in his remarks, the singer admitted that he did not manage to talk to his father in his final hour, and understood that he had missed many opportunities to create memories with his dear father.
"I didn't speak, I didn't say anything to him. I couldn't speak, I was shaking and I was in shock. When I arrived at the hospital and saw him in that state, I said to myself, why all the anger? Why all the fights? It's a pity for the loss of family, of unity, of my father with his grandchildren. I wish I could turn back the clock."
