Hapoel Be'er Sheva achieved a major feat on Tuesday with a 0:2 victory over Red Star Belgrade in Serbia, qualifying for the Champions League playoff round. However, the one who stole the show at the end was the team doctor, Dr. Hanna Karmiko, who proudly waved the Israeli flag in front of the Red Star fans' stand.
Karmiko pulled out the flag on her way to the locker room and waved it on the pitch, while some fans in the stands booed her and threw various objects. The Serbian website "Mozzart" reported that "a member of the Hapoel Be'er Sheva professional staff waved the Israeli flag while walking towards the tunnel at the end of the match, which sparked stormy reactions and great anger among the die-hard fans of the red-and-whites."
In the online comments regarding the footage, one user noted that the doctor did not provoke the fans at all, but simply displayed the Israeli flag. Another user questioned: "Since when are Red Star fans pro-Palestinian?"
