James Maddison waited 536 days for this moment. The English midfielder returned to Tottenham's starting lineup last night, scoring a brilliant goal in a 3:1 victory over Coventry and showing his emotion at the final whistle.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi handed Maddison the start, and the 29-year-old repaid him in the first half with a curling strike from outside the box. For Maddison, this was much more than just another goal after a long period of injuries and rehabilitation.

"These are the moments you dream of," Maddison said. "In the dark days of recovering from the ACL injury, you fantasize about moments like this. It is always the light at the end of the tunnel."

Tottenham temporarily lost the lead after Jack Rudoni's equalizer in the second half, but Omar Marmoush and Ben Davies later scored to secure the win. The three points lifted Spurs above the relegation zone into 16th place.
