Israel Election Committee Expects Record Double-Envelope Votes in October

The Central Election Committee is preparing for a record number of double-envelope voters in the 26th Knesset elections scheduled for October 27. According to current projections, approximately 650,000 double envelopes are expected, marking the highest figure ever recorded in Israeli elections.

This means that votes equivalent to roughly 14 mandates will be counted with a significant delay. Unlike standard polling stations, double envelopes are not tabulated on election night, meaning the real-time election results will remain notably incomplete until the count concludes.

Despite these projections, early estimates do not always materialize. In 2021, the Election Committee initially projected that 650,000 citizens would cast double-envelope ballots, though approximately 425,000 were ultimately counted.
