Jackie Azoulay: "Despite my fame, I can't afford to buy this"
The reality star, returning to the screen in "MasterChef: Dream Team," discusses the knowledge gap between her and other contestants, the use of AI, and the expensive ingredient she still cannot afford.
Chef and reality star Jackie Azoulay first rose to fame on the TV show "MasterChef" in 2012, where she reached third place. Since then, she has participated in several reality shows and gained significant popularity. Currently, Azoulay is competing in the cooking show "MasterChef: Dream Team" on Channel 12, alongside Eden Harel, Eliav Sasson, Aviva Pivko, Gal Kaspers, and others.
Azoulay was interviewed for the show "Good Evening with Guy Pines," where she shared her experiences in the competition and addressed the culinary knowledge gap between her and some of the other contestants.
"I don't know how mushrooms you don't recognize suddenly grow. But there is Yuval Ben Neria, there are mushrooms you don't know what they are. In the morning, they give us a briefing here and say this is a tomato. Go explain that to a Moroccan woman from Be'er Sheva and tell her this is a tomato. Grouper (Locus), despite all my fame, I still don't have the ability to purchase, and that's why I came back here. There is a department here where some contestants come in the morning for a briefing and ask: 'Where is the kombu?' 'Where is the miso?' Names that I have no clue what they are."
Azoulay emphasized that she wants to prove it is possible to win the competition without relying on expensive ingredients associated with high-end restaurant cuisine.
"Anyway, I will prove to them that I can win even without miso, dashi, mashi, and bashi. In the end, tasty food wins. You don't need to overcomplicate things. Everyone here is on ChatGPT during the breaks. Mine is outdated; I have more artificial intelligence than it does, and therefore I don't consult with it. Basically, that's what has changed."
