Book Launch Honors Fallen Nahal Reconnaissance Fighter and October 7 Heroes
Families, officials, and journalists gathered at the ANU Museum in Tel Aviv for the launch of former minister Izhar Shay's book honoring his late son Nuni and the fallen of October 7.
Family members, comrades-in-arms, families who lost loved ones in the October 7 battles, public figures, politicians, and journalists gathered last Friday for the launch event of former minister Izhar Shay's book, "Yahalom Meshagea," at the ANU Museum in Tel Aviv.
The book tells the story of his son, the late Staff Sergeant Yaron Uri (Nuni) Shay, a Nahal Reconnaissance Unit fighter who fell in the battle of Kerem Shalom on October 7. The launch honored not only Nuni's personal story but also the stories of his unit comrades and their families, forming a human mosaic of camaraderie, heroism, loss, and life.
Dobi Eichenwald, publisher of Yedioth Books, stated: "Izhar could have written a book just about his son. About funny, beloved Nuni, but Izhar refuses to remember Nuni alone. He embarks on a journey to understand what happened to his son in his final hours and in the process tells us about the Nahal Reconnaissance Unit fighters, the medics, the Air Force and Unit 669 personnel, the female spotters, and the families who lost and survived."
