IAF NCO Arrested on Suspicion of Harassing Subordinates
An IAF career NCO was arrested on suspicion of harassing two subordinates, as military data reveals an increase in complaints regarding inappropriate workplace behavior.
A career NCO in the Israeli Air Force has been arrested on suspicion of harassing two of his female subordinates. Following the report, the suspect was investigated and findings were referred to the Military Advocate General for review. The Military Court extended his detention until October 6 for a hearing and the filing of an indictment.
His identity remains under a gag order until October 4 at 3:00 PM. According to data provided to ynet last year, during the first half of the year 1,630 complaints were filed, of which 73% involved sexual harassment within military units, 14% concerned harassment in civilian circumstances, and 3% dealt with domestic and partner violence. Among the complainants, 66% chose command-level handling paths, 23% wanted no treatment at all, and 9% of the cases were transferred to the Israel Police.
In addition, the IDF identified a significant increase in complaints regarding a harassing atmosphere, namely crude or sexual discourse within units. While in the first half of 2024 there were 133 such complaints, in the first half of 2025 the number rose to 275.
An IDF Spokesperson's Unit statement said: "The IDF views any offense of a sexual nature with the utmost severity and will continue to act resolutely to bring to justice anyone involved in such incidents. The assistance and support personnel of the Advisor to the Chief of Staff on Gender Affairs (Yohalam) accompany victims from the reporting stage onward and remain at their disposal for any required assistance."
