Baby Boom Across Israel as Hospitals Welcome First Newborns of New Year

The Hebrew New Year opened across the country with particularly emotional births: within just a few hours, the first babies of the year 5787 arrived at hospitals from the north to the center. At Rambam Health Care Campus, a veritable baby boom was recorded, with four births within a single hour.

The first birth at Rambam took place at 8:21 PM, twenty minutes later another baby was born, and within another twenty minutes, two more babies arrived. Among the parents who welcomed the new year with the greatest gift of all were Maria Katzovsky and Nimrod Meitav from Atlit, whose daughter was born at 9:03 PM weighing 3.820 kg. "This is the best gift we could have asked for," the parents said, wishing the people of Israel a year of tranquility and peace.

Also at the Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh), the year opened with an emotional birth. Daniel and Adrian Laredo from Ramla welcomed their first son, weighing 2.740 kg. Meanwhile, the medical center summarized the outgoing year 5786 with 8,800 births, 116 sets of twins, and an average of about 24 babies born daily. This past year also saw a trend of 51% boys compared to 48% girls.

At Wolfson Medical Center, the first baby of the year was born at 7:43 PM, weighing 3.365 kg, to Lalin and Elai Vaknin from Rishon LeZion. At Kaplan Medical Center, the firstborn son of Eden and Daniel Caspi from Rishon LeZion was born at 7:52 PM, weighing 4.138 kg. At the Northern Medical Center (Poriya), the daughter of Hodaya and Tal Cohen-Alalishvili from Hodiyot was born, weighing 3.060 kg, while at Ichilov, the first baby of 5787 was born as early as 6:39 PM, weighing 3.995 kg, to parents Tamar and Asaf.

Thus, with the entrance of the new year, delivery rooms across the country provided one of the most emotional images of its beginning: new families, first babies, and a great deal of hope for a good and much quieter year.
