Israel's transport network continues to upgrade for the public, with several route changes and infrastructure works planned to improve transit across the country.

Bus Route Adjustments in Tel Aviv

Starting Thursday, October 22, 2026, and for about two months, the routes of eight bus lines heading to the Reading terminal in the Kochav HaTzafon area of Tel Aviv-Yafo will change. Lines 8, 33, 68, 193, 270, 272, 418, and 480 will temporarily alter their paths due to the progress of construction for the Tel Aviv Light Rail Green Line.

As part of the new traffic arrangements, the section of S.Y. Agnon Street between Levi Eshkol and Ibn Gabirol streets will be temporarily closed toward the terminal, with buses diverted via Levi Eshkol Street and Rokach Boulevard. Meanwhile, northbound traffic straight from S.Y. Agnon toward Reading will be blocked, and left turns onto Ibn Gabirol will not be permitted. Return routes in the opposite direction will operate as usual.

Upgraded Service for Line 144

Last week, bus line 144, operated by Superbus, underwent a significant upgrade to improve connections between the Shfela region and employment and health centers in the center. Previously operating only twice a day, the line now runs at a high frequency of every 30 minutes from Sunday through Thursday, and every 40 minutes on Fridays and Saturday nights.

The new route begins at Wolfson Medical Center in Holon, continuing to serve residents of Rishon LeZion, Beer Yaakov, Ramla, and Lod, ending at its new final station in the Airport City business complex via the El Al junction and Kfar Truman.

Infrastructure Works on Israel Railways

Additionally, for service improvement and travel safety, Israel Railways announced that life-saving infrastructure works vital for safety will be carried out in the Ashdod area. During the work, changes will apply to train traffic this coming Friday, October 23, only.

Trains on the Beersheba-Herzliya line via Sderot, Netivot, and Ofakim will operate in a split format between Beersheba Center and Ashkelon stations, and between Yavne West and Herzliya stations. Simultaneously, trains on the Ashkelon-Binyamina line will start and end their journeys at Rehovot station. Israel Railways will operate a complimentary shuttle service, and regular train traffic will resume immediately after Shabbat.
