Israel and Albania Sign New Aviation and Economic Pacts in Tirana
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar signed an aviation and intergovernmental cooperation agreement in Tirana with Albanian officials, aiming to boost tourism as Israeli visitors surge to 100,000 annually.
Israel and Albania are strengthening their bilateral ties in aviation, tourism, and economics. During his diplomatic visit to Tirana, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar signed an advanced aviation agreement with Albanian Infrastructure and Energy Minister Enea Karçagi, coordinated with Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev.
The agreement is designed to boost air connectivity between Israel and Albania, expand flight options, and encourage mutual tourism. This comes amid a sharp increase in the number of Israelis choosing to visit the Balkan nation in recent years, a trend that has driven up the demand for expanded flight routes.
Surge in Israeli Tourism to Albania
According to official data, the number of Israeli tourists visiting Albania has surged from approximately 7,000 to around 100,000 per year over the past three years. This dramatic rise in tourism has necessitated the new aviation accord to help meet growing demand by expanding flight capacities.
The new aviation agreement and intergovernmental pact reflect our shared commitment to expanding cooperation, boosting tourism, and creating new business opportunities for Israeli companies in Albania.
Alongside the aviation deal, Sa'ar's visit also marked the signing of an expanded intergovernmental cooperation agreement. This pact will enable the Albanian government to contract directly with Israeli companies, opening up fresh business prospects across various economic sectors.
