Hebrew-Language Social Media Network from Tehran Sparks Suspicion in Israel
A Hebrew-language social media network named "Pers-pective" broadcasting from Tehran has sparked suspicion among Israelis of being an Iranian influence operation.
A TikTok account and a network of social media profiles operating under the name "Pers-pective" have sparked intense suspicion and debate among Israeli users. The network, which publishes high-production videos in Hebrew directly from Iran, has accumulated millions of views across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. The videos feature a Hebrew-speaking presenter broadcasting from Tehran, depicting life in the country as prosperous, modern, and highly appealing.
In one viral video, the presenter takes viewers on a tour of a luxury supermarket in Tehran, demonstrating what can be purchased for just 200 NIS. This creates an indirect comparison to the high cost of living in Israel. However, Israeli content creator Tal Shenhav, along with numerous other netizens, issued a sharp warning against the account. They argue that the footage presents a highly misleading and staged reality, noting that the luxury supermarkets shown are reserved for those close to the regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), while the general Iranian public suffers from severe poverty and a dual-tier supply system.
Beyond the content itself, Israeli creators point to several suspicious technical indicators in the management of these accounts. The profiles were launched simultaneously across multiple platforms, with location settings and VPN routing pointing to countries like the UAE and Germany. Furthermore, the account has exhibited targeted behavior, systematically following Israeli content creators who actively expose the crimes of the Tehran regime.
While security agencies have not yet officially declared whether this is an organized influence operation by Iranian intelligence or a highly controversial private initiative, Israeli social media users are calling for vigilance. Netizens are urging others to report the pages to the respective platforms and are calling on intelligence and cyber defense bodies to investigate the funding and production behind these videos.
