"Fired 19 bullets": Three charged with murder in Shefa-Amr
The State Attorney's Office has filed indictments against Fahd and Asad Hujirat and another minor for the liquidation of Ali Sawaed last July as part of a conflict between crime families. The two ambushed him at his workplace and fired at him from close range, and also attempted to murder a passerby who happened to be at the scene and was himself murdered weeks later.
An indictment was filed today, Sunday, at the Juvenile District Court in Haifa against two brothers and a minor from Shefa-Amr for the murder of Ali Sawaed. The murder occurred on July 1 against the backdrop of the ongoing blood feud between the Sawaed and Khaldi crime groups, and also included the attempted murder of a person who happened to be at the scene.
The indictment, written by Adv. Sarah Harel from the Haifa District Attorney's Office, reveals that brothers Fahd (21) and Asad (25) Hujirat belong to the group of Bilal Sawaed, while the deceased's family is identified with the Khaldi family. Against the backdrop of this conflict, the two decided to murder Sawaed, who worked as a driver at the city's bus terminal. They planned the act in advance, equipped themselves with two pistols, ammunition, and a stolen vehicle on which cloned license plates were installed.
In the early morning hours of July 1, the brothers arrived at the terminal and waited for Sawaed. When he arrived at his workplace, they fired 19 bullets at him, 12 of which hit him. One of the brothers got out of the vehicle, chased him, and continued to fire at his head and upper body from close range while he was lying on the road. Medical teams pronounced his death at the scene.
During the incident, Hashem Hujirat, who was on his way home, passed by. After the shooting of Sawaed, and while fleeing the scene, the two brothers fired three bullets at Hashem's vehicle with the intent to kill him, wounding him in the hand. Hashem survived the incident but was murdered in a separate event on August 12.
After the murder, the brothers fled in the vehicle. According to the prosecution, the minor assisted in carrying out the murder, securing the escape route, and setting the vehicle on fire afterward.
The filing of the indictment follows an investigation by the National Unit for Combating Organized Crime (YAHAVAL) in Lahav 433, which lasted over 40 days and at the end of which an evidentiary basis was formed against those involved. The two brothers are charged with premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances, attempted murder, weapons offenses, arson, and obstruction of justice. The minor is charged with offenses of aiding and abetting murder, arson, and obstruction of justice.
