Participated in the October 7th raid on Be'eri — and was eliminated from the air this week

The IDF eliminated Tarek Anwar Khamis Ra'i, a company commander in the Islamic Jihad, the day before yesterday (Sunday) in an airstrike in Khan Yunis. The terrorist took part in the October 7th massacre, raided Kibbutz Be'eri, and was involved in the kidnapping of an Israeli citizen.

Ra'i served as a company commander in the terrorist organization's supply array. The IDF stated that in addition to his involvement in the raid on Be'eri, he had recently been planning further terrorist activities against Israeli soldiers and civilians, and was therefore targeted to prevent their execution.

This current operation is taking place in parallel with the continued deployment of Southern Command forces in the area, which is being carried out in accordance with the existing agreement. Following the strike, the army clarified that the forces will continue to act against any organization that poses an immediate threat.

This policy of targeting field commanders involved in planning current attacks and the events of October 7th was also reflected during the past week. At that time, Jamal Mahmoud Abu Kamil, a Hamas commander who also crossed the border into Israel on the day the war broke out, was killed.

Abu Kamil was targeted from the air in Gaza City under the direction of the Shin Bet, after the security establishment determined he was engaged in promoting actions against the army. On the same day, IDF forces in Khan Yunis attacked another company commander, this time in the military wing of Hamas, on the grounds that he too was planning to attack the forces operating in the Gaza Strip.
