Two IDF Soldiers Lightly Injured in Encounter with Hezbollah near Beaufort
Two IDF Golani Reconnaissance soldiers were lightly injured in southern Lebanon after a Hezbollah operative opened fire during searches near Beaufort. The soldiers returned fire, eliminating the operative.
Two IDF soldiers were lightly injured on Monday during an encounter with a Hezbollah operative in the Beaufort area of southern Lebanon. According to the IDF Spokesperson, the operative opened fire at a force from the Golani Reconnaissance Unit during searches inside a building. The soldiers immediately returned fire and eliminated him. The wounded soldiers were evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, and their families have been notified.
According to the military statement, forces fired artillery shells shortly after at the location where the operative had been hiding. Additionally, the IDF struck weapons depots, headquarters, and other Hezbollah terror infrastructure in the area.
The IDF emphasized that it will not allow Hezbollah to harm Israeli civilians or military forces, and will continue to act to remove threats while remaining committed to the ceasefire agreement.
Ongoing Operations in Southern Lebanon
The encounter occurred amid ongoing IDF operations in the security zone of southern Lebanon. Last week, the military announced that the 769th, 4th, and 55th Brigade Combat Teams, under the command of the 91st Division, are operating to locate and destroy Hezbollah infrastructure and weaponry. During these operations, forces have located anti-tank missiles, rocket launchers, explosive charges, weapons, and military equipment.
On Friday, Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the IDF had completed the capture of the Ali Taher ridge and cleared the tunnels in the area of Hezbollah operatives. According to Israel Katz, Israel will not withdraw from the security zone in southern Lebanon until Hezbollah is disarmed and the threats to the residents of the Galilee are removed. The following day, the IDF announced further strikes against operatives and weapons depots in southern Lebanon in response to a drone launched at its forces the previous day.
