Security forces arrested a terrorist suspect who announced plans for an imminent shooting attack on social media. The IDF acknowledged that the suspect was unarmed at the time of his arrest.
The IDF spokesperson announced the arrest on Telegram. "The day before yesterday, IDF forces operated in the city of Hebron under the Yehuda Brigade, arresting terrorist Abd al-Rahman based on Shin Bet intelligence," the military stated. The suspect planned an immediate shooting attack against Israeli citizens.
Shin Bet identified social media posts where the suspect declared his intention to leave his home in Hebron and attack IDF forces and Israeli civilians. Consequently, forces from the 101st Paratroopers Battalion deployed in the area received his details and photograph.
The suspect approached an IDF checkpoint in the city, where paratroopers identified and arrested him. He was immediately transferred to Shin Bet for interrogation. The IDF confirmed that the suspect carried no weapon during the arrest.
Operational Readiness Across the West Bank
Prior to the holiday, the Judea and Samaria Division conducted dozens of exercises, including a two-brigade drill along the seam line and brigade-level drills across all regional commands. These efforts accompanied heightened counterterrorism operations resulting in the arrest of over 220 wanted individuals.
Central Command Chief Major General Avi Blut conducted unannounced inspections across several battalions to evaluate operational readiness and review combat plans for various scenarios.
