IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Hamas Operations Head Jamal Abu Said in Gaza
The IDF and Shin Bet announced the targeted killing of Jamal Abu Said, Hamas's head of operations in Gaza, who was previously involved in holding hostage Omer Shem Tov.

The Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet announced that Jamal Abu Said, head of operations for Hamas's military wing, was killed earlier this week in an airstrike in Gaza City. According to defense officials, Abu Said was among the captors holding hostage Omer Shem Tov during the ongoing war.
Over the years, Abu Said held several senior positions within the organization. He was responsible for training military operatives outside the Gaza Strip, served as an anti-tank battalion commander, and oversaw military specialties within the Central Camps Brigade.
According to the IDF and Shin Bet, Abu Said was also responsible for Hamas relations with various countries and was considered a significant knowledge resource within the organization. Security forces stated that he actively promoted terror plots against IDF troops and Israeli civilians while working to rebuild Hamas capabilities.
Defense officials emphasized that Abu Said advanced these activities in systematic violation of the ceasefire agreements. His elimination marks a significant blow to the operational leadership of the terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip.
