IAI Unveils New TAHR Tactical Vehicle for German Special Forces
Israel Aerospace Industries unveiled the TAHR tactical vehicle in Germany for special forces, following a framework agreement to supply up to 200 units.
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled a new tactical vehicle in Germany developed for the country's special forces, marking another milestone in bilateral defense and industrial cooperation. Named TAHR and based on ELTA Systems' ZD platform, the vehicle was showcased at the opening event of the 10th annual conference of Germany's Special Forces Command in Altensteig-Wart.
The vehicle was developed by Flensburg Technology Systems (FTS), a joint venture subsidiary of IAI's ELTA division and Germany's FFG. Manufactured in Germany, the ZD platform underwent custom adaptations to meet the rigorous operational requirements of the German special forces.
Advanced Tactical Capabilities
The TAHR is a lightweight, air-transportable tactical vehicle offered in two configurations: one designed for combat units and another serving as a matching operational support vehicle. Both variants boast high mobility and off-road capabilities tailored for special operations.
A key feature of the vehicle is its open architecture and high integration capability, enabling a wide field of view and the seamless incorporation of diverse systems. The design allows two vehicles to be transported simultaneously inside a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, achieving rapid operational readiness immediately after landing.
Strategic Framework Agreement
The public presentation follows a major procurement milestone. In October 2025, FTS signed a framework agreement with the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) to supply up to 200 vehicles.
