Histadrut and OPC Energy Sign Major Collective Agreements for Power Plants
The Histadrut and OPC Energy signed historic collective agreements granting 4%-4.5% wage hikes and enhanced benefits for private power plant workers across Israel.
The Histadrut, Idan Ofer's OPC Energy group, and employee committees have signed a series of significant collective agreements, marking a breakthrough in labor relations within Israel's private power generation sector.
Expanding Collective Agreements in OPC Stations
As part of this initiative, the collective agreement at the OPC Hadera power plant was renewed, and for the first time, collective agreements were signed at the OPC Tzomet Energy and OPC Soreq 2 plants. These agreements strengthen organizational relations, significantly improve salary, pension, and welfare conditions for employees, and grant the company long-term stability and industrial peace.
Key highlights of the agreements include annual wage increases of 4% to 4.5% throughout the agreement period, alongside a fixed addition of 400 NIS to the base salary. Additionally, an annual bonus budget averaging 2.5 base salaries per employee was established, along with commercial operation bonuses for Hadera and Soreq 2 workers.
"The private electricity generation sector is one of the most important and fastest-growing infrastructure sectors in the economy, and today we are taking a significant step forward," stated Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David.
Enhanced Welfare and Pension Terms
The agreements also outline increased pension contributions to the maximum rate, an expanded pension wage base for shift workers, and significant improvements in employee rights regarding vacations, recreation, travel, catering, and general welfare.
These agreements are part of a nationwide campaign led by the Histadrut in the private power plant sector. Initiated by Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David, a national team was established under the leadership of Adv. Tehila Benishu, Deputy Director-General of the Trade Union Division, to formulate and implement national policy in this growing sector.
