After over a decade in the field, channel series, and massive shows, children's star Roi Oz gets a leading role in the new musical by Elad Yosef, Magen Sabag, and Asi Stav — alongside a dramatic move in the All-Stars season of "The Voice".
The Hanukkah musical season is heating up, and it has been reported that children's star Roi Oz, known to every home in Israel as "Roy Boy", has been officially cast in a central role in the holiday's highly anticipated musical, "Dragon Guardians". The glittering production, which is set to be staged at leading venues across the country, is produced by Elad Yosef, Magen Sabag, and Asi Stav.
The new casting comes at the beginning of a stormy period in the career of the 45-year-old performer. Oz, who began his professional path in the early 90s with a collection of exotic animals and founded the production company "Amazonas" in 2002, broke into the national consciousness in 2012 with the series "Roy Boy's Jungle". Since then, he has become one of the most prominent children's stars in Israel, with successful series on yes and HOT, DVD releases, an amusement park in Rishon LeZion, and continuous starring roles in major Hanukkah productions.
In recent years, Oz's name has often made headlines in complex contexts, ranging from the "feed a Bedouin" video controversy in 2020, which led to a freeze in his television activities, to public criticism in 2023 after he was seen riding a horse on the Ayalon Highway. Despite these upheavals, Oz has maintained his place in the world of children's entertainment.
Now, it seems Oz is making a significant step in his return to the forefront. Alongside his expected participation in "Dragon Guardians", it was previously revealed that he signed a contract for the All-Stars season of "The Voice" on Reshet 13. This transition from the lasso and the horse to the prime-time microphone for adults marks a fascinating new chapter in the career of the "jungle boy".
