Inbal Bibi Opens Up About Mental Health and Past Substance Struggles
Singer Inbal Bibi opened up in a candid podcast interview about her past struggles with substance use, mental health diagnoses, and the path to recovery.

In a candid interview on Eran Swissa's podcast, singer and songwriter Inbal Bibi opened up about her past struggles with mind-altering substances, revealing how a desire to cope with social anxiety and deep-seated shame ultimately led to a heavy mental toll.
Breaking Free from Social Anxiety
Bibi explained that initially, using substances felt like a shortcut to eliminating inhibitions and silencing the overwhelming social anxiety that haunted her. "I started doing what the whole world around me was doing," she shared. "Substances that change perception, that make sure there is no shame, no inhibitions." Swissa noted that this is precisely why many individuals turn to such routes, a sentiment Bibi readily echoed.
However, the relief was short-lived. Gradually, the psychological cost began to mount, culminating in a critical juncture where she realized a drastic change was imperative. "I reached a point where it was either I stop for a moment to understand what is happening, or I stop living altogether," she admitted.
Facing Past Scandals and Diagnoses
This revealing conversation comes on the heels of several turbulent public episodes. Previously, a selfie shared by Bibi sparked online speculation after observant users spotted paraphernalia in the background. Although the story was promptly deleted, screenshots circulated widely. Furthermore, during her military service in 2016, Bibi was arrested by military police and served 16 days in military prison after admitting to marijuana use.
"I reached a point where it was either I stop for a moment to understand what is happening, or I stop living altogether."
During the full interview on the show "Swissa + 1", launched alongside her new album, Bibi also disclosed diagnoses of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). She detailed how a rigorous two-year Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program helped her navigate abandonment anxieties and stabilize her personal life, leading up to her marriage last August to content creator Roy Kornblum.
For those struggling with mental distress or substance addiction, professional help is available through community health services and specialized support centers.
