End of an era in Givatayim: one of the city's most beloved shawarma spots, Davidovitch Shawarma, has closed its doors without any prior notice. Located at 5 Tfutsot Yisrael Street, the restaurant ceased operations at the beginning of the current month (September 2026), and the business is now marked as permanently closed.
Davidovitch first opened a little over a year ago and quickly managed to win the affection of the local public. Scores of shawarma enthusiasts from all over the Gush Dan region frequented the establishment daily, expressing their unwavering love for its iconic taste.
The venue shut down abruptly without any announcement or explanation, leaving its fan base searching for answers. In recent days, social media shawarma communities have frequently raised questions about the sudden closure, especially since Davidovitch never published a farewell message or an official statement explaining the reasoning behind it.
As recalled, only two days ago an administrative closure order for one month was signed for the long-standing "Okinawa" restaurant in the Levontin neighborhood of Tel Aviv, following the apprehension of an undocumented West Bank resident employed at the site. Similarly, a well-known beachside restaurant in Haifa was closed this week under comparable circumstances after two illegal residents were caught on the premises.
