Generac Shares Surge 30% on Multi-Billion Dollar Amazon Data Center Deal
Generac Holdings shares surged over 30% after signing a long-term supply deal with Amazon worth up to $8 billion for data center backup systems.

Generac Holdings shares surged by more than 30% in after-hours trading following a dramatic announcement of a long-term supply agreement with technology giant Amazon. Under the deal, Generac will supply advanced backup power systems for Amazon data centers. Cumulative payments under the agreement could reach up to $8 billion, with initial deliveries expected to total $2.4 billion in the coming years.
The capital market reaction was immediate and sharp, with the stock surge adding about $3 billion to the company's market capitalization, which stood at $10.3 billion prior to the report. As part of the agreement, Generac granted an Amazon subsidiary the right to purchase up to 1.69 million shares at a price of approximately $200.93 per share. Stock vesting will occur gradually based on actual payment volumes and will remain valid through September 2033.
The move comes after Generac rapidly expanded its operations in the data center power sector, which now serves as a key growth engine. In the second quarter of 2026, the company recorded external sales of $556 million in the commercial and industrial segment, representing an increase of about 29%. Concurrently, the company executed strategic acquisitions and expanded its manufacturing facilities in Illinois to meet growing demand.
The dramatic deal with Amazon joins a broader trend where artificial intelligence ecosystem companies are benefiting from massive investment inflows. The need for infrastructure operators to ensure uninterrupted power supply to servers has made energy equipment manufacturers primary beneficiaries of the technological revolution, positioning Generac as a leading player in this market.
