Lieutenant Colonel A., who served as the intelligence officer for the Gaza Division on October 7, has been definitively dismissed from the IDF. The military announced this evening (Thursday) that the Head of the Personnel Directorate decided to terminate his service agreement and end his career in the IDF. The decision was officially communicated to the officer, who retains the right to appeal to the Chief of the General Staff.

Lieutenant Colonel A.'s name is still barred from publication. The Administrative Affairs Court permitted the release of his identity last week, but he petitioned for a stay of execution since he is considered to be serving within the IDF intelligence apparatus. A. had petitioned against his dismissal proceedings, but the court ruled last June that the process must be allowed to continue.

Chief of the General Staff Eyal Zamir determined last November that Lieutenant Colonel A. is among the commanders who bear command responsibility for the massacre.
