France Investigates Crypto Fraud and Dubai Real Estate Linked to Verasity
French authorities are investigating a French-Russian citizen over alleged cryptocurrency manipulation involving Verasity and the purchase of millions in Dubai real estate.

A high-profile financial investigation in France has linked the cryptocurrency market, luxury real estate investments in Dubai, and allegations of organized fraud. According to a report published by French media, a French citizen born in Russia was arrested in July and placed under formal investigation in Paris. The French National Financial Prosecutor's Office confirmed she is being investigated on suspicion of organized fraud and aggravated money laundering linked to tax evasion.
The Cryptocurrency Connection and Real Estate Acquisitions
At the center of the investigation, according to a legal source, is the possibility of organized manipulation of a cryptocurrency's exchange rate, which allegedly helped finance massive real estate purchases. The digital asset in question is Verasity (VRA). In the spring of 2021, the token's price surged roughly 65-fold over two and a half months before crashing. Today, the token has lost approximately 99.98% of its peak value, though investigators note that a price surge alone does not prove manipulation.
The scale of real estate accumulated by the suspect is a focal point of the case. According to the investigation, during 2022 alone, she acquired around 100 apartments and three villas in Dubai totaling more than 50 million euros. The properties are spread across some 15 buildings and generate rental income. In June 2022, she reportedly purchased an entire residential building named Amara Residences for 68 million dirhams, approximately 17.4 million euros at the time, which included 73 apartments and commercial spaces.
Defense Denials and Ongoing Legal Proceedings
The allegations have been strongly denied by the defense attorneys representing the accused citizen. According to her lawyers, she does not understand the charges against her and maintains that she committed no offense in France or elsewhere. An attorney who previously represented her claimed there is no connection between her wealth and the Verasity project, asserting she held no project tokens. However, subsequent investigative findings have pointed to documented links between her and entities associated with Verasity.
"Being placed under formal investigation in France does not constitute a determination of guilt, and investigators must still substantiate the alleged links between the VRA price action and the funds used for property acquisitions," legal experts noted.
The combination of a 65-fold cryptocurrency surge, tens of millions of euros in Dubai real estate acquisitions, and documented ties to project technology places Verasity at the center of one of the most unusual financial investigations currently unfolding in Europe.
