Three years after the October 7 attacks, dozens of testimonies from survivors, soldiers, reservists, and bereaved families are finding a new digital home. The Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) is launching an English-language video library featuring firsthand accounts of those whose lives were altered by the attacks and the ensuing war.

In its initial phase, the archive includes over 50 recorded testimonies spanning more than 12 hours of footage. Among those featured are former hostages Noa Argamani, Amit Soussana, Maya Regev, Almog Meir Jan, Edan Alexander, and Maxim Herkin.

Diverse Perspectives and Categories

Accounts are categorized to provide varied viewpoints on the events of that day and the period that followed. Alongside survivors, the library presents perspectives from active-duty soldiers, lone soldiers, reservists, and grieving family members.

Participants include Moshe and Shira Shapira, parents of the late Staff Sergeant Aner Shapira; Rabbi Doron Peretz, father of the late Captain Daniel Peretz; Colonel Elad Edri, who provides a firsthand account of the attack on the Zikim base; and Izzy Ezagui, an IDF soldier who returned to reserve duty after being wounded in action.

Preserving Memory for International Audiences

The project aims not only to gather existing testimonies but to expand the library in the coming years with additional stories and accounts.

A primary goal is making the testimonies accessible to audiences outside Israel. Presented entirely in English, the library targets donors and supporters in the United States, including members of Jewish and Christian communities, enabling them to hear stories directly from those who experienced the events.

"Three years later, it is vital not only to preserve these testimonies but to make them accessible in English to communities that support Israel and IDF soldiers," said FIDF CEO Major General (Res.) Nadav Padan.

The new archive marks a transition in the memory of October 7 from real-time news documentation to a permanent digital repository designed to remain available for years to come.
