Starting tonight (between Saturday night and Sunday), significant traffic disruptions are expected in the area of the KKL bridge in Tel Aviv due to the start of the first phase of rehabilitation and safety works. The project is expected to last about two weeks, with a different direction of travel being blocked each week.

From 23:30 tonight until 06:00 on Friday, August 21, traffic lanes on the KKL bridge from west to east will be completely closed. Additionally, left turns will not be permitted when exiting the Ayalon Highway South towards the KKL bridge. Despite the construction, the Ayalon Highway itself will remain open to traffic throughout the period. Entry to Highway 20 South from the KKL interchange will remain accessible, as will the right turn from Ayalon South to KKL Boulevard and the left turn from Ayalon North to the bridge.

Pedestrians will be able to cross the area using a safe passage located on the northern part of the bridge. These closures are part of comprehensive maintenance works, which include replacing the bridge's expansion joints. The project is managed by the Ministry of Transport and the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality through the Ayalon Highways company, and will be carried out under the supervision of traffic inspectors in coordination with the Israel Police.

Heavy traffic congestion is expected in the area, and drivers are advised to prepare in advance, choose alternative routes, and stay updated via Waze. Public transport will also be affected, with changes to bus routes and stop locations. Further information is available via the Kol Kav call center at *8787.

The work will continue beyond Friday. On Saturday night, August 22, at 23:30, the second phase will begin, reversing the closure: traffic lanes on the KKL bridge from east to west will be blocked until 06:00 on Friday, August 28.
