Northern Residents Indicted for Extortion and Beit Shean Shooting Attack
Two northern residents were indicted for extorting a family over financial debts and carrying out a shooting attack that mistakenly hit neighbors' homes in Beit Shean.

An indictment was filed against two residents of the north of Israel for extorting a family over a financial debt, culminating in a shooting incident directed at the home of the victims' neighbors.
According to the police, the incident began on the night of September 30, when a report was received regarding gunfire targeting a residential building in Beit Shean, fortunately resulting in no injuries. Subsequent investigation revealed that the shots were mistakenly aimed at the wrong house, as the intended targets were neighbors who had been subjected to months of severe extortion due to debts accumulated by a relative.
Investigators uncovered that for months prior to the shooting, the family endured relentless death threats from a 29-year-old resident of Kfar Hittim. The primary suspect sent menacing messages demanding immediate payment and threatening violence when the family could no longer keep up with the extortion demands.
Faced with the family's inability to pay, the main suspect enlisted a 42-year-old Beit Shean resident to act as an enforcer. After intimidation attempts failed to yield further funds, the second suspect, alongside an unidentified accomplice, carried out the shooting attack that hit the neighbors' residence.
At the conclusion of the evidence-gathering phase, the Northern District Prosecutor's Office filed formal charges and requested the detention of both suspects until the end of legal proceedings. They face multiple counts including extortion under threat, weapons offenses, incitement to shoot, discharging a firearm in a residential area, and obstruction of justice.
