Heavy Smoke and Odors Blanket Hadera and Emek Hefer Following Fires
Heavy smoke and toxic odors blanketed Emek Hefer and Hadera on Thursday morning following nighttime fires near the seam line. Authorities urged residents to stay indoors.

Heavy smoke covered the skies over the Emek Hefer Regional Council and the Hadera area early Thursday morning, with residents reporting strong toxic odors. Local authorities advised citizens to keep windows and doors closed until further notice.
According to the Emek Hefer Regional Council, emergency services tackled an intense wave of fires across the seam line during the night hours, resulting in heavy smoke drifting across the region toward Hadera. Officials emphasized that no active fire foci are currently burning within the council's jurisdiction, though sweeps are underway to locate potential hidden hazards.
Local authorities are coordinating their response with the IDF, Israel Police, Fire and Rescue Services, and the Civil Administration. Environmental assessments are also being conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the local environmental quality association.
Meanwhile, the Fire and Rescue Services reported that Hadera station crews have been searching for the source of the persistent smoke and burning smell since the early hours. Authorities estimate the smoke originates from areas east of the city, and relevant teams continue working to clear the environmental hazard.
