Foodtech company Ever After Foods, controlled by the Israeli biotechnology firm Pluri, has announced a significant strategic move in its international expansion. The company has acquired the Belgian biotechnology firm Fishway, which specializes in the biology of marine-derived cells and the development of animal-free growth media.

This acquisition is expected to expand the production platform of Ever After Foods, which develops open production solutions for the cultivated protein industry, while adding expertise in marine-derived cell biology. The deal grants the company its first scientific and operational presence in Europe, facilitating closer cooperation with food and ingredient companies transitioning from development to large-scale industrial production.

In parallel with the deal, the company expects to receive an additional $2 million in strategic investment through a SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) agreement. These funds are intended to support the continued development of the platform and commercialization activities.

According to Yaky Yanay, CEO of Pluri:

"Ever After Foods demonstrates how cell-based technology and Pluri's manufacturing experience can create value for the food industry. Fishway brings to EAF complementary scientific capabilities, human capital, and an operational base in Europe. We believe these moves strengthen the platform and its ability to support customers in the process of transitioning to large-scale commercial production."

Eyal Rosenthal, CEO of Ever After Foods, added: "The next stage in the cultivated protein industry will depend on the integration of complementary technologies within scalable industrial platforms. Fishway adds significant capabilities in marine-derived cell biology. This is a first and important step in implementing our broad platform strategy."

The parent company, Pluri, is a pioneer in 3D cell expansion technology, enabling large-scale production of cell-based products across fields such as therapy, regenerative aesthetics, longevity, and agrifoodtech.
