Crime Boss Eran Hayia Set for Extradition from U.S. to Israel
Eran Hayia, a prominent crime syndicate leader, is set to be extradited from the U.S. to Israel following a New York court ruling approving the police request.
Eran Hayia, identified as one of the most powerful criminal organization leaders in the country, will be extradited from the United States to Israel in the coming days. This follows a New York court decision today (Wednesday) to approve the request by the Israel Police to deport and extradite him. Hayia has been wanted by police for a considerable period over several offenses and is currently detained in a U.S. facility.
The primary suspicion against Hayia involves the attempted assassination of Eli Musli using a large explosive device in the central region of the country. This attempt was thwarted at the last moment, following which the Tel Aviv Central District police unit (YARAM) successfully recruited a state's witness from within Hayia's organization. According to suspicions, the state's witness implicated Hayia as the alleged mastermind behind the plot to harm Musli.
Hayia, who holds multiple citizenships, has operated for a long time both inside and outside Israel. A violent and prolonged conflict has persisted between his organization and the Musli family, prompting extensive police efforts to apprehend him. Following the police extradition request, the U.S. court decided to grant the request.
Upon Hayia's landing at Ben Gurion Airport, detectives from the Tel Aviv Central Unit and Lahav 433 will be waiting for him. Officers will handcuff Hayia and transfer him directly to court, where police will request an extension of his detention to continue the investigation into the cases attributed to him.
