Gadi Eisenkot Slams Netanyahu Over Ignored Foreign Warnings Before Oct. 7

The chairman of the Yashar! party, Gadi Eisenkot, harshly criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following recent foreign intelligence reports regarding warnings received ahead of the October 7, 2023 massacres. In a post on X, Eisenkot stated that Netanyahu led Israel into its greatest disaster through blindness, complacency, and irresponsibility.

Revelations from Foreign Media

Eisenkot's reaction followed investigative reports published over the weekend by The Atlantic and The New York Times. According to the reports, senior officials from Egypt and the United Arab Emirates warned Israeli leadership of an impending major Hamas offensive prior to October 7. The reports claimed, among other things, that UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed personally warned Netanyahu, while Egyptian intelligence officials cautioned that the Gaza Strip was on the brink of an explosive escalation.

"The systematic attempt to evade responsibility, spread conspiracy theories, and manipulate public consciousness is collapsing in the face of reality," wrote Gadi Eisenkot on X.

Political Repercussions and Likud's Response

Eisenkot emphasized that the accumulating evidence proves Netanyahu breached public trust and lacks the moral authority to lead the nation's recovery. He called upon Israeli citizens to vote in the upcoming elections for a responsible government that will establish a state commission of inquiry.

In response, the Likud party issued a sharp rebuke, dismissing the media reports as fabricated campaign tactics. "As elections approach, we witness a flood of false publications by mobilized leftist journalists aimed at toppling the right-wing government," the party stated, adding that the reports rely on biased foreign media outlets and recycled falsehoods.
