Eisenkot Blames Miri Regev for Severe Aviation Security Failures
Yashar! party leader Gadi Eisenkot harshly criticized Transport Minister Miri Regev following major security failures regarding an extremist pilot on a flydubai flight.

Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Yashar! party, sharply criticized Minister of Transport Miri Regev and her ministry on Sunday following serious security failures regarding a pilot on a flydubai flight.
Speaking on the All in podcast hosted by Nadav Perry, Eisenkot described the incident as a severe failure and security breach. A simple glance at the pilot's Facebook profile would have revealed an extremist ideology. This is a failure of the Ministry of Transport, and accountability must also be examined within advisory bodies such as the Shin Bet or the Mossad, he stated.
Security Lapses and Intelligence Gaps
Eisenkot's harsh remarks follow alarming details published over the weekend regarding co-pilot Hammam al-Hammami, who allegedly intended to crash an aircraft into Israeli territory. It emerged that al-Hammami had previously been reassigned to an administrative role in an Omani airline due to radical views, worked in Morocco, and subsequently joined flydubai. Despite glaring warning signs, extreme social media content, and explicit intentions, the threat bypassed Israeli intelligence agencies, which maintain close ties with these nations.
This begins with the appointment of unqualified ministers, both professionally and ethically, Eisenkot noted, adding that Miri Regev has failed utterly and is manifestly unsuited for the role.
Political Appointments and Institutional Failures
The opposition leader criticized the appointment of political loyalists surrounding the minister, pointing to nepotism that yields a weak professional echelon loyal to party leadership rather than the State of Israel. This serious event highlights deep gaps among aviation security authorities, including the National Security Council (NSC), the Ministry of Transport, the Shin Bet, and the Mossad.
