A 39-year-old man was moderately injured on Tuesday evening after being attacked by a large dog in a community within the Darom HaSharon Regional Council. The man suffered deep cuts and bleeding in multiple areas of his body before shooting the animal dead with his personal firearm.
According to Magen David Adom paramedic Ahav Alyan, the attack took place in a family yard. For reasons still unclear, the large dog—whose breed is not yet identified—suddenly attacked the man, biting his back before moving on to his hands and legs, causing severe injuries.
Medical personnel at the scene reported that the victim felt his life was immediately threatened during the mauling. He managed to draw his licensed handgun and shot the dog to death.
MDA teams rushed to the location, provided the wounded man with initial medical treatment, and evacuated him to Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba. He remains in moderate condition, suffering from trauma and injuries across several parts of his body.
