Actor Dan Turgeman to Serve 10 Months in Prison for Tax Evasion
Actor Dan Turgeman will serve 10 months in prison starting March 2027 after the Tel Aviv District Court upheld an appeal over his 3 million shekel tax evasion conviction.
Actor Dan Turgeman, convicted of tax evasion exceeding 3 million shekels, will begin serving a 10-month prison sentence on March 1, 2027, according to a report by the Mako website. The sentence was handed down by the Tel Aviv District Court following an appeal filed by the State Attorney's Office against the leniency of the initial verdict from the Magistrate's Court, which had originally sentenced him to nine months of community service.
The State Attorney's Office argued that a harsher sentence was required and that Turgeman should be imprisoned, in line with sentencing policy for white-collar crimes of this magnitude. Turgeman is scheduled to report to prison in about five and a half months and is expected to serve his sentence at either the Hermon or Tzalmon correctional facility.
The affair began in 2018 when Turgeman was arrested following intelligence gathered and an analysis of his bank accounts. The investigation revealed that between 2008 and 2017, he received over 3 million shekels that were not reported in his personal tax returns or the reports of companies under his ownership. Furthermore, it was found that between 2014 and 2017, he generated unreported rental income totaling 576,000 shekels, and contracts indicating his activity as a construction entrepreneur in the settlement of Beit Aryeh were discovered at his home.
Alongside the tightening of the prison sentence, a reduction was granted regarding the financial component. The court lowered the fine imposed on Turgeman from 200,000 shekels to only 60,000 shekels, which will result in a refund of 140,000 shekels from the state.
