Como produced one of the most stunning results in Champions League history by crushing Lens 9-1 away, highlighting a wild night of European football that also featured Real Madrid's dramatic 3-2 extra-time win over AEK Athens.

Making its debut in European competition this season, Como became only the second team in history to score nine goals in a single Champions League match, matching Bayern Munich's 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in 2024. The Italian side also equaled the record for the largest margin of victory in the tournament's history, alongside Liverpool's 8-0 win against Besiktas and Real Madrid's 8-0 routing of Malmo. What makes the scoreline extraordinary is that the opponent represents France, one of Europe's top five leagues.

Greek striker Anastasios Douvikas starred with a hat-trick in the 7th, 32nd, and 57th minutes. Further goals came from Nico Paz (40), Lucas Da Cunha (47), Marc Oliver Kempf (54), Mattia Liberali (62), Martin Baturina (69), and Matteo Pafundi (91). Ruben Aguilar scored the lone consolation goal for the hosts in the 65th minute. With this result, Como climbed to nine points after four matchdays and 19 goals overall, sitting just behind Paris Saint-Germain.

Elsewhere in the Champions League, Manchester City secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory away against RB Leipzig. After Castello Lukeba's own goal and Enzo Fernandez's strike were canceled out by Ridle Baku and Antonio Nusa, Erling Haaland netted the winner in the 78th minute. Meanwhile, English champions Arsenal recorded a solid 2-1 win over Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic, courtesy of goals from Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres, before Viktor Novak pulled one back late in the 90th minute.
