The board of directors of Colmobil has approved the appointment of Asaf Harlap as the group's new chairman, the company announced on Sunday.

Harlap succeeds his father, Dr. Shmuel Harlap, one of Israel's prominent business figures, who passed away last month at the age of 82.

Asaf Harlap joined Colmobil in 2006, managing several divisions and brands, and has served as an active director in recent years. Since 2020, he led the generational transition within the company alongside his father, working closely with the board, executive management, and partners both locally and internationally.

Colmobil is the largest vehicle importer in Israel, holding a market share of approximately 22%. Owned by the Harlap family, the group imports Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi, among other brands, and also operates in the energy, recycling, and real estate sectors.

Following his appointment, Asaf Harlap stated:

"I want to thank from the bottom of my heart the company's management, employees, partners, and colleagues for their support during these difficult days since we lost my father. I thank the board for their trust. It is a privilege and an immense responsibility for me to continue leading Colmobil alongside management, our partners in Israel and abroad, and our dedicated employees to new heights, while preserving the values that have always guided us."
