Clalit Health Services is subsidizing extracurricular activities for children of its insured members in Kiryat Ekron by up to 125 shekels, Walla has learned. The benefit was announced in the town ahead of the upcoming extracurricular year and is intended for children up to sixth grade.

According to the announcement distributed in the town, the benefit covers a variety of activities, including English, drama, theater, painting and illustration, darbuka drumming, soccer, robotics, and Krav Maga.

Health maintenance organizations are responsible for providing their members with the health services basket, which includes medical, diagnostic, rehabilitative, and preventive services of a health nature. Against this backdrop, the subsidization of non-medical activities raises questions regarding the source of funding and how the benefit aligns with the HMO's core operations.

Clalit stated: "Clalit operates in accordance with the law, the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, and the applicable ethical and regulatory rules. The issue was brought to our attention, and upon receiving the inquiry, an immediate investigation began to clarify the facts."
