MK Chili Tropper spoke about the severe personal and family toll he paid due to malicious fake rumors spread about him, during an interview on the program "Meeting with Roni Kuban" on Kan 11.

The Impact of Malicious Rumors

Tropper shared that initially, when his staff informed him that a defamatory rumor claiming he was a pedophile was spreading across the country, he chose to ignore it. He thought there was no point in giving a platform to absurd lies. However, once he realized the rumors could reach his children, he changed his approach.

"There is a limit to how much poison I am willing to absorb," Tropper said during the interview, noting that the hardest part was the potential exposure of his children to the false allegations.

Confronting the Lies at Home

Kuban asked Tropper during the interview what such a conversation actually looks like, prompting the question: "Do you have to explain to them, 'Dad is not a pedophile'?"

Tropper explained that he approached the topic directly with his children, telling them that false and completely fabricated stories would be published about him, assuring them of the absolute truth. Although his children immediately believed and supported him, Tropper described the conversation as a painful and unnecessary experience.

Legal Action and Court Verdicts

The statements were made against the background of an affair that began in March-April 2023, when Likud activist Avraham Tal Mis published a defamatory video on TikTok. Subsequently, Likud activist Miri Barbi shared the video on X, further amplifying the falsehoods.

Following the publications, Tropper filed defamation lawsuits totaling one million shekels against both individuals, terming the campaign a wicked blood libel designed to tarnish his reputation. The court ruled in Tropper's favor:

  • Avraham Tal Mis, who failed to file a defense statement, was ordered to pay Tropper one million shekels plus 60,000 shekels in legal costs.

  • Miri Barbi, who shared the video, was ordered to pay 160,000 shekels in damages alongside 12,000 shekels in legal costs, with the court ruling she acted maliciously.
