U.S. and Allies Push for Broad Israeli Unity Government to Advance Regional Accords
The U.S. and international actors are promoting a broad Israeli unity government to advance regional agreements, including normalization with Saudi Arabia, under a framework involving Likud and Gadi Eisenkot.

The U.S. administration and international actors are promoting the establishment of a broad Israeli government capable of making far-reaching policy decisions as part of a regional settlement.
According to a senior U.S. official, the message has been conveyed directly to senior figures in Israel's political system. The Prime Minister's Office and the White House are in regular contact, and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has met with several party leaders, including Gadi Eisenkot last month. The moves are being handled carefully to avoid interfering in Israel's elections.
Under one of the frameworks being examined, a government would be formed led by Likud in partnership with the Yashar! party headed by Gadi Eisenkot. Under potential understandings, Benjamin Netanyahu would remain in office for a limited period of up to two years, during which the government would work to end wars on all fronts and advance regional agreements, notably with Saudi Arabia.
The Trump administration is pressuring Saudi Arabia to join the Abraham Accords, offering security cooperation including F-35 fighter jets and a civil nuclear facility. However, Riyadh conditions the move on a change in Israel's government composition, viewing a narrow coalition as incapable of delivering major strategic shifts.
Foreign and domestic political sources view the outline as an opportunity for a strategic breakthrough in the Middle East. President Isaac Herzog has also been mentioned in connection with contacts regarding a broad coalition, though the President's Residence has denied involvement, while Herzog himself recently emphasized his determination to prevent another election cycle.
