Minister Amichai Chikli Breaks Channel 12 Boycott to Appear in Studio
Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli broke a collective boycott by national camp politicians and appeared in the Channel 12 studio, despite demands for an apology over Force 100 coverage remaining unmet.
Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism Amichai Chikli appeared in the Channel 12 studio on Wednesday, directly violating an explicit pledge he signed earlier this year. The minister had joined an initiative by national camp public figures who vowed to boycott the channel following biased reports regarding the Sde Teiman base case involving Force 100 reservists.
In January, it was reported that Chikli signed the strong-worded letter alongside other ministers and Knesset members protesting a heavily edited and blurred video broadcast by Channel 12, accompanied by commentary accusing reservists of severe misconduct. The signatories demanded a public apology, removal of the footage, and disciplinary action against reporter Guy Peleg and others involved.
The letter stated that signatories would refuse all interview requests from Channel 12 until these conditions were met. Despite management fulfilling none of these demands, particularly the apology to Force 100, Chikli appeared in the studio. No response has yet been issued by the minister's office.
