Lieberman Sparks Uproar Over West Bank Proposal, Later Clarifies Remarks

Yisrael Beytenu leader Avigdor Lieberman sparked a political uproar during a live interview with Besheva by suggesting that Jordan should assume control over the West Bank in Areas A, B, and C. The remarks drew swift backlash, notably from Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who condemned the statement as a loss of composure.
An even harsher response came from the right-wing movement "Returning Home Forum," which denounced his comments as "nothing short of the madness of a dangerous man." Lieberman subsequently retracted the statement, claiming he had made a mistake and mixed up his words, clarifying that he intended to refer solely to Areas A and B.
At the same time, Lieberman turned the tables on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating: "For those who struggle to recover from confusion, I remind you that Netanyahu confused October 7 with November 7 when speaking about the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust." Explaining his original premise regarding Areas A and B, Lieberman argued that reaching an arrangement with Jordan is necessary for administrative and security management in the West Bank.
