California 9/11 Memorial Vandalized by Pro-Palestinian Protestors
Pro-Palestinian demonstrators vandalized a 9/11 memorial featuring 2,977 flags on a California university campus, sparking outrage and police investigation.
An improvised memorial dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks was vandalized by pro-Palestinian demonstrators in California. The memorial, set up on a university campus, featured 2,977 flags placed to honor each of the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
The flags were arranged as part of a memorial ceremony organized by university students marking the somber milestone. Overnight, pro-Palestinian protesters arrived at the site and defaced the display.
Demonstrators tore up flags across the memorial and wrote pro-Palestinian and anti-war slogans on others. Consequently, the tribute meant to remember the thousands of terror victims turned into a political protest arena over the ongoing war-in-gaza.
Following the incident, the university filed a police complaint. The vandalism sparked outrage among the ceremony organizers, members of the Young America's Foundation (YAF), who were responsible for setting up the thousands of flags.
Desecrating a memorial for the victims of the World Trade Center attacks is an act of disrespect toward the United States, representatives of the organization stated. Twenty-five years after the attack, we will not allow ourselves to be forced into silence, and we will never forget the disaster that befell us.
The incident occurred as memorial events are held across the United States to mark 25 years since the attacks, considered one of the deadliest and most staggering events in modern American history.
