Maccabi Tel Aviv fans can breathe a sigh of relief as reports linking manager Robbie Keane to the managerial vacancy at Burnley have cooled down.

According to a report published on Tuesday by The Athletic, former CSKA Moscow coach Fabio Celestini has emerged as a leading candidate for the role and has already traveled to England with his coaching staff. Robbie Keane's name was notably absent from the report, significantly lowering expectations of his departure from the Israeli club.

Keane had been mentioned on Sunday by talkSPORT as a potential successor to Scott Parker—who was dismissed following a 4:1 defeat to Lincoln City. However, English media reported on Monday that Burnley prefers managers with prior experience in English football and is reluctant to pay compensation to release a coach under contract elsewhere, presenting a major hurdle for Maccabi Tel Aviv's current boss.

Burnley is enduring a difficult start to the season following relegation from the Premier League. The club currently sits 22nd in the Championship with just one victory from 12 matches, and is winless at home for over a year as club management seeks a turnaround.
